Richard L. Roudebush VA Hosptial: Residency Experience

Veterans Administration Hospital

Roudeboush VA hospitalThe Richard L. Roudebush Veterans Administration Hospital functions as an integral part of the Department of Surgery. Its 180 beds afford the clinical material, facilities and personnel to provide a diverse and rewarding opportunity for the education and training of surgical house staff and medical students.

During their rotation, residents serve as members of a therapeutic team, each member contributing according to his or her level of experience and the goals and objectives set for each level. The senior members of the resident staff are privileged to exercise their clinical judgment and assume responsibility for the care of patients to a degree that is commensurate with their ability and stage of training, and often greater than can be offered during other assignments. A new clinical tower containing the operating room suite and surgical intensive care facility was completed in 1995. Dr. Dolores Cikrit is Chief of Surgery at the Veterans Administration Hospital .
