As one of the top five National Centers delivering care for pediatric heart disorders, Riley Hospital for Children has an outstanding reputation for the treatment of congenital heart defects for over the past 40 years. Riley Hospital for Children offers a full range of diagnostics, surgery and follow up care through many interdisciplinary teams.

Care for children with heart problems is one of many specialty areas at Riley Hospital for Children, Indiana University Medical Center. Our cardiology services for children began in 1950 and are well known regionally and nationally. Riley Hospital is the only center in Indiana that offers comprehensive evaluation, medical management and surgery for infants and children with heart disease.

We care for children with congenital heart disease living in Indiana, across the United States, and from around the world.

Riley Hospital opened its brand new, state of the art “Riley Heart Center” in November, 2001 providing highly specialized care for patients of all ages with congenital heart defects. All cardiac patients are seen both pre-operatively and postoperatively in this center. The post operative unit is comprised of 10 private patient care rooms and 10 telemetry patient rooms.

Riley Hospital has 32 Intensive Care Unit beds and 48 Newborn Intensive Care Unit beds.

Riley Hospital operating rooms have two dedicated, state of the art cardiovascular surgery suites, capable of multiple procedures per day.
