Education: Fellowships: HPB Fellowship
The Indiana University Department of Surgery offers a one-year clinical fellowship in HPB surgery. One applicant, who has completed a general surgery residency, is accepted each year. The HPB Fellow will learn the operative and nonoperative management of complex hepato-pancreato-biliary disorders in a multidisciplinary setting under the tutelage of several faculty who are nationally and internationally recognized for their expertise in the field.
More information about the HPB Fellowship is available through the Fellowship Council website www.fellowshipcouncil.org. Applicants apply through this website and participate in a National Resident Matching Program process. The successful applicant will receive a junior faculty appointment as well as privileges at the Indiana University Medical Center. During the clinical year, the HPB Fellow will receive excellent experience in HPB surgery as well as in the management of HPB disease. Clinical research projects will also be performed during this year. An optional second year of more basic science research is also available. Upon completion of the one- or two-year program, the fellow will be prepared for a career in academic HPB surgery.
