Plastic Surgery Section

Plastic Surgery is a division of the Department of Surgery at the Indiana University School of Medicine, the Health Sciences Division of Indiana University.  This relationship is maintained in all of the component hospitals.  Faculty members of the division are tenure track members of the School of Medicine appointed by the division head, with the approval of the Chairman of Surgery and Dean of the Medical School.

The Plastic Surgery Division supervises services at University, Riley and Wishard and the Veteran’s Administration hospitals.  The Burn Units at both Wishard and Riley Hospitals are under the direct supervision of Plastic Surgery and are the only verified burn centers in the state.  Active multi-disciplinary clinical programs in craniofacial and cleft palate surgery are in place.  Head and neck oncology, aesthetic surgery, hand surgery and trauma as well as general reconstructive plastic surgery are carried out at each of the component hospitals.  A melanoma and skin cancer center was initiated in 1995.  Laboratory space includes the microsurgery laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Jing Ge.

Plastic Surgery offers an accredited two-year Residency Program, an accredited one-year Craniofacial Fellowship, and a non-accredited one-year Burn Fellowship.

Full time faculty include Drs. John J. Coleman III, Director, Rajiv Sood, Robert J. Havlik, Adam Cohen, William Wooden, and Jason Cacioppo.
